Drop in for Parents and Carers with English as an Additional Language

Every week a group of parents and carers who speak a range of languages, all meet together at school. This is an informal meeting, and the aim is to help keep parents and carers informed about important information regarding their child’s learning. They are also grateful for the opportunity to practice their English and ask questions! We are very grateful that these parents and carers have had a very positive impact on our school, organising cake sales and international events for us all to enjoy. As a result they have raised money which we have used to purchase Chromebooks to support the pupils who are new to English who join our school.

EAL has been going on for about 4 years in The Leys School. I am also a member of this club from the beginning and enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s helped foreign parents and children to understand how to solve problems in school. EAL are always happy and friendly to anyone. That raise money for the school and currently bought chrome tablets to help children in the school. Personally I am very happy that this club helps the school in every way they can. Also from joining this club I have many new lovely friends who also help me . This is a great club for everyone’s solve problems.

I have been a member of the EAL group since it began. I am very pleased with how it's been organised and functioning for the benefit of both us parents and children.  It definitely is the best place for us to receive help, care, encouragement. Also EAL group helps to build our confidence and is some where we can take every problem we have and gain good solutions.
